Shugo Chara! – Episode 49

I was so busy giggling throughout the first part of this episode that I had to go back and rewatch what I missed. Ikuto came back! With Amuto to boot! I’m officially one happy fangirl at the moment.

Summary

The episode begins at Easter, where the Sanjo-obsessed guy is explaining a new product that they want to develop. The product harnesses power from X eggs, hopefully enabling them to steal X eggs more efficiently. The Sanjo-obsessed guy and two other people from the company present the project to Easter Cheif in a dorky way. He gets slightly annoyed by it but Ok’s their idea.

Ikuto is in the park with Yoru, discussing best how to find the embryo, as they have had no success yet. Neither Ikuto or Yoru know how to go about looking for it. Yoru asks Ikuto what he would wish for, and receives a flick on the head for an answer. (I’m rather curious about Ikuto’s wish as well…) Ikuto gets out his violin and begins to play an up-tempo song.

Amu is late getting home from a Guardian meeting (Did anyone else notice the excellent lack of Tadase in this episode?), and is running through the park. She hears a violin being played, and wonders if it could be Ikuto. She follows the sound to find out, thinking that it couldn’t possibly be him. Obviously, she finds Ikuto, in the same place from episode 12. She listens to his song a bit, and then begins to sing along.

Ikuto, who was playing with eyes closed, opens them and looks at her. Amu is still singing when Ikuto suddenly stops, much to Amu’s embarrassment. Ikuto and Yoru tease Amu a bit, and Amu goes slightly tsunedre. She says that she hasn’t seen Ikuto in a while, and asks where he’s been, pretending not to really care. Ikuto uses is skills of evasion to get out of answering her question. Ikuto begins playing again and Amu sings along. Suddenly, one of Ikuto’s strings snap. Amu’s Chara’s tease her, saying it was due to her voice. Ikuto agrees with them, causing Amu to get slightly embarrassed.

Ikuto puts his violin away and begins walking, Amu tags along. They end up at a violin shop and go inside. Ikuto is on familiar terms with the owner. The owner asks about Amu, wondering if she is Ikuto’s girlfriend. Amu denies it immediately. Ikuto stays silent in the background, not denying it at all.

The owner calls his daughter, Kotone, to bring in some tea. Once she realizes that Ikuto is there, she turns into a fangirl and goes to say hello to Ikuto. The owner tells Kotone to serve Ikuto’s girlfriend the tea, causing Kotone to turn into a somewhat violent looking fangirl. Amu explains that she isn’t Ikuto’s girlfriend and she and Kotone begin to talk. The owner guy, busy fixing Ikuto’s violin, tells Kotone that another customer will be stopping by later on.

Ikuto’s violin gets fixed and plays for everyone. Kotone tells Amu about violins and how she hopes to make them like her father. The customer that was mentioned earlier comes in and asks Kotone to take care of her violin. Amu tells her it’s great that she got a violin to fix and random conversation continues. While the girls are wrapped up in talking, Ikuto slips out of the shop. Amu leaves soon as well, planning to come again the next day.

Meanwhile, Easter gets it’s new product up and running and send it out in search of the embryo.

Amu goes directly to the violin shop after school. She walks in to find Kotone working on the violin, greets her but gets ignored. Amu waits for Kotone to finish, but eventually falls asleep. When Kotone finishes up and sees Amu sleeping, she falls asleep herself, knocking over a glass of tea. The tea spreads across the desk eventually to the violin that she had just finished working on.

Some time later, Amu wakes up and goes to look at the violin. Kotone wakes up as well, and Amu compliments her on finishing it. Kotone picks up the violin, only to find the bottom of it stained with tea. Kotone gets upset and Amu tries to cheer her up. The phone rings and it’s the customer who dropped off the violin, who is now coming to pick it up. Kotone freaks out and runs out of the shop with violin, closely followed by Amu.

Amu loses track of Kotone, and gets told by her Charas that Kotone’s hearts egg is turning into an X egg. Being able to sense the eggs presence, her Chara’s point her in the right direction. Amu finds Kotone, but Kotone’s egg is already an X egg. The X egg flies into the air, and Ikuto captures it. Yoru says it’s not the embryo so they should just get rid of it, Amu tells Ikuto it’s Kotone’s egg, distracting him long enough for the egg to escape.

Amu transforms into Amulet Spade and chases down the egg. Amu’s Chara’s try to get Ikuto to help Amu, but are reminded that they are enemies. Amu eventually heals the X egg all on her own and it returns to Kotone. Amu plans to use “Remake Honey” to fix the violin, but is stopped by Ikuto. Ikuto says it would be pointless unless Kotone fixed it herself.

Kotone comes running up and says she’s going back to fix the violin and runs away, Amu follows her. (But not before stopping to look for Ikuto, who had disappeared) Kotone apologizes to her father when she gets back and sets out to fix the violin. The customer chick shows back up after the violin is fixed and Kotone explains what happens and apologizes. She gets praised by the customer, and the situation is resloved.

Amu and Katone are talking, Kotone tells her that she had a dream about Amu and Ikuto was there too. She then tells Amu that she likes Ikuto. Amu gets an expression of her face of curiousty and anxiety at the fact that Katone likes Ikuto.

Easters new product ends up being a complete failure, as it not only hunts X eggs, but chicken eggs as well.

Amu walks home with her Chara’s and explains that she decided to do her best and follow her dreams after meeting Kotone. Miki says that Amu just wants to do her best for Ikuto, Amu not quite understanding what there talking about joins in crying “FIGHTO” but then realizes what Miki said and freaks out and denies it liking Ikuto.

Opinions

I went way overboard with the screen caps this time around. There was just so much Amuto goodness in the first bit, I couldn’t help it. XD

Gah! Ikuto, I’ve missed you! There was so much more of you in this episode! ^.^

I really loved it when Amu sang. It was pretty. I also loved the expression Ikuto made when he looked down and saw Amu. It was just so great! >.<

Geez Satelight, put enough distance between them? May as well have been a foot ball field in between them. Meh, well at least they actually came in contact.

Conductor Yoru! Gah, I just love Yoru! This was really cute too.

I got so happy when the background faded out and it was just Amu and Ikuto. I was giggling like mad. I wish they would just start on Ikuto’s arc already, I want more Amuto action!

Hah! Shoujo sparkles! In my head, these sparkles are a sign of love. Seriously, when sparkles surround two characters it tends to imply something.

I love the fact that Amu actually followed Ikuto instead of just going home like she could have. There wouldn’t have been an episode if she’d done that though.

Yeah Amu, you can deny being Ikuto’s girlfriend all you want, but I don’t hear Ikuto denying anything! XD

Amu always gets the short end of the stick when it comes to other girls liking Ikuto. She made up with Utau, but now we get this filler chick harassing her. Meh.

This screen cap has no point other than the fact that it’s Ikuto…and his violin. Ikuto and his violin, and one crazy me fangirling over Ikuto and his violin. Lol

Wow, I just realized that I didn’t take to many pictures of the filler girl…or anything pertaining to the filler plot, really. I suppose there was just to much Ikuto for me to pay attention to it.

Ikuto and nekomimi…it’s been so long! Ikuto really should have gone and helped Amu though. It’s not like them being enemies ever really stopped him before.

Am I the only one who can see the slight fear in Amu’s face right here? Well Amu, there is nothing wrong with some healthy competition (even if it only lasts one episode) maybe now that you’ve come so close to being jealous, you’ll get your butt in gear!

I was really thrilled with how Amu yelled “FIGHTO” after that comment about Ikuto, even if she did it by accident, it still made me giggle! ^.^

Preview

The Chara’s are going on a quest next week. I’m not too excited for this, as it lacks my favorite Chara’s. But still, it’ll probably be cute.
