The fall anime season has officially started with the airing of Hakushaku to Yousei! ^.^ I’m extremely happy as I’ve been waiting for fall so impatiently! I’m glad Hakushaku aired a bit earlier than the others, because if I had one more anime airing between Oct 1st-Oct 11th, I would panic!

Summary
(Excuse this summary for being rather half-assed. I had just woken up and they were talking really fast, so I probably missed things)
The first episode of Hakushaku begins with the blond bishie Edgar interrogating a guy, about things I didn’t understand. (Probably about the sword he’s looking for) The guy claims not to know anything, but then mentions a Fairy Doctor. Edgar interrogates him further, and he goes back to saying he doesn’t know much, but after Edgar nearly pulls the trigger on the gun he’s holding, the guy talks. He says there is Fairy Doctor named Lydia Carlton.
In Scotland, Lydia is at her home. A mother and child are walking by Lydia’s front gate and the child stops to look at the sign hanging on it. The sign is about fairies and the child asks if it’s true, the mother says it isn’t. Lydia pops up from behind the bushes claiming that it is and then begins talking about fairies to the child. The mother quickly drags the child away.
The talking cat, Nico, who seems to hang around Lydia a lot begins a conversation with her. Something about how being a Fairy Doctor is a troublesome profession and humans don’t really believe in fairies much. The mail carrier comes and hands Lydia a letter. It appears to be an invitation to London (Or something of the sort).
Nico and Lydia set out on their journey. They are in a room on a large ship, Lydia whining to Nico who is reading a newspaper. An attendant comes in and apologizes for the wait, then moves her to a different room. Nico and Lydia have a short conversation about the room, which is interrupted by a noise that seemed to have come from the wardrobe. Lydia opens the wardrobe but finds nothing there. She suddenly gets grabbed from behind by a bishie with brown hair, who says he needs help, because their are people after him. Brown haired bishie rambles on a bit and then lets her go. She asks him who he is, which he doesn’t answer. He says something about needing power, and Lydia notices that he’s injured. She decides to help him, and goes to check if the hallway is clear. He thanks her calling her “The cute girl with caramel-colored hair”. He then proceeds to kiss her hair, which she reacts strongly against.
Lydia knocks on the door to the attendants room and feeds them some false story to get them out of their way. The attendants all run out of the room in a hurry. When they’re gone, brown haired bishie and Nico run up to Lydia. Brown haired bishie grabs her by the hand and pulls her into a sprint. (Cue awesome music) One of the attendants sees them and yells to the others, they keep running. Brown haired bishie says it’ll be ok and winks. (Hehe) They turn to go down a flight of stairs and Lydia looses her balance nearly falling, but the attendant grabs her bag. Brown haired bishie beats up the attendant, and then they continue running. They reach a room and go inside. Lydia has no idea where she. She complains that the guy didn’t really even need her help (I think) and then falls asleep. Nico wakes her up sometime later.
She sits up and the door on her right opens. The man who she was with walks out, but has blond hair instead of brown. A butler names Raven appears, and talks to the blond, calling him “My Lord”. Lydia hears this and wonders who the blond guy really is. The blond guy introduce Raven to Lydia, using her name. She asks him how he knows it. He says that he knows she is Lydia Carlton a Fairy Doctor and introduces himself as Count Edgar. (Duh) Lydia looks out the window and notices the ship has already set off, so she’s pretty much stuck with him. Edgar tells Raven to get Lydia a different dress, and he does. Lydia changes and then goes with Edgar to the dining hall, where everyone his formally dressed for dinner.
She has dinner with Edgar and his acquaintances. Edgar and the snobby people talk. One of the people say something that offends Lydia, and she fiercely argues with the chick. Edgar agrees with Lydia about whatever it is that they were arguing over (I was rather lost, but I think it had something to do with Lydia’s profession). Lydia goes out onto the deck and find Nico drinking and eating shrimp. She talks to him a bit and then Edgar appears. Lydia goes all tsun-tsun toward him. He notices the liquor and asks if she’s been drinking, she says no and that is was Nico who was drinking. Edgar doesn’t quite believe her and she argues with him a bit. She gets mad and turns around, Edgar takes a step toward her and she turns to face him again.
He talks about some things with her and she still acts tsun-tsun. He then takes a step toward her and she backs away, and then he takes another step toward her. This continues until she is at the railing of the ship. She goes to take another step and nearly falls into the sea, but is caught by Edgar. She tell him to let her go, he doesn’t and says something that made her angry so she pushes him away. She and Edgar talk fiercely to each other, but are interrupted by the horn of an approaching ship. Lydia wonders why there is another ship so close by and Edgar says something (That I didn’t understand at all) and then narrows his eyes.
And that is the end of episode 1! ^.^
Opinions
I’ve been excited about this anime for ages!! It falls in with two of my favorite things, which is of course anime, and Victorian England! I’m definitely sticking with this anime, which may be hard when the rest of the Fall Season airs, but I’ll manage one way or another! ^.^

Edgar must really want that sword he’s looking for! I didn’t really expect him to be so violent! But that’s okay, violent guys go further to protect the girls! XD Poor old guy though, giving the information then getting shot anyways.

I really love Lydia’s character design. Especially the eyes and the hair…I just love her twirly hair! And God, that voice! Nana-sama once again owns my soul!

I want a cat that walks and talks! That would just be fun…

This scene made me laugh out loud…it’s just bizarre seeing a cat reading a paper. I don’t even think Cheshire Cat did that. ^.^ This one can disappear too…So he just needs some stripes before he can beat the Cheshire Cat…who I am now officially declaring his rival!

And thus…she discovered the magical land known as Narnia! *Head Desk* That was really all I could think about at this part!

Then he shows up and I was to busy drooling to think at all. He is one beautiful bishie, and his voice is just amazing, I like his seiyuu quite a bit…I have a thing for voices, apparently! ^.^
That’s about it for my screencaps…my computer is being emo and won’t let me take anymore. I’ll try to add some more in later!
I really really love this show though! ^.^ It was just as epic as I was expecting it to be! And Edgar is just one hot Bishie…Like super hot. If something romantic doesn’t happen between him and Lydia, there will be hell to pay!
